NEXT WEEK - Aug 10th
Rick Neumann is the Program Chairman this week and Cindy Holman has arranged a program featuring Jake Emling. Jake is the Manager of Prescription Services, Inc a retail pharmacy owned by NMRHS.
LAST WEEK
Our thanks to Heather Giammalva and Sue VanDeVenter, Faculty Advisors of the Petoskey Middle School Builders Club, for the informative program at last week's meeting. They gave us a pretty complete run-down on the activities planned and undertaken by the members of the club and thanked us for our support - both finan-cial and by our interacting with the club. Our thanks also to Marion Kuebler for arranging the program.
BOARD MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of our Board of Directors for the month of August will take place on Thursday, August 5th. President Ryan Bentley will host the meeting in the offices of the Petoskey News-Review (319 State St.). The starting time will be 12:00 Noon - and ALL Officers, Directors, and Service Committee Chairs are invited and urged to attend. Prompt arrival will allow for proper consideration of all Agenda items.
BEST WISHES, JORDAN!
We wish Jordan Dutcher best wishes as he sets off to undertake a new occupation. Jordan will be taking a Leave of Absence from our club as he heads for Barber College in Lansing. His family will continue to live in Harbor Springs and he plans to commute home for the weekends.
IN HIS ABSENCE...
During Jordan's absence, Pat McGinn has agreed to join Hank Hoffman in co-chairing the Stars & Stripes Flag Project. Our thanks go to Pat for accepting these duties without hesitation. We need to get out and sell more flags - we haven't even scratched the surface on the potential for flying flags. Hopefully, Pat can put together a few more events to canvas residents in more of Petoskey. We have materials for 150 flags and have sold less than 50 so far!
AND ONE MORE THING!
Jordan's departure also leaves us in need of a new Chairperson for the Youth Services Committee. This is a major committee due to the emphasis our club places on helping the youth of our commun-ity. Anyone interested should contact President Ryan as soon as possible. We'll be like a "ship without a rudder".
TRAVELOGUE TABLOID
The deadlines are approaching! The chairman of the layout com-mittee (Dave Farley) called this morning to make preliminary contact on the status of ads for this year's Travelogue Tabloid. Travel & Adventure Series Chairman DJ has been in contact with the News-Review to arrange the printing and inserting of the tab-loid. Advertising Chairperson, Jan Jensen, continues to ask for salespeople to help with the follow-up calls to last year's advertis-ers. This project (the tabloid) is our club's single, largest source of income for the many projects undertaken by your club. It deserves your assistance. Call Jan (347-7353) and offer to help.
WHAT'S NEXT?
President Designate Jim Ehrnst and President-Elect Designate Marion Kuebler completed their Club Leadership Education last Saturday and are anxious to get started on a new Kiwanis Year. The first item on their agenda is going to be the appointing of Committee Chairs and the lining up of weekly Program Chairs for the year. These assignments should be completed by mid-August to allow time for "proper training" of Committee Chairs. Jim will want to schedule his President's Leadership Conference to meet with his Board and Committee Chairs in early September. This meeting will line up the goals and objectives for the coming year.
INDUCTION POSTPONED
The induction of Doctor Charlene Sweeney which was scheduled for last week's meeting has been postponed until this week due to Dr. Sweeney's medical schedule. Please join us at this week's meeting and help welcome Charlene to your club.
